The idiom a “cherry on top” metaphorically means something small and special added to something else that is already very nice on its own but the little extra something makes it just that much more special or appealing. It originates from the idea that a bowl of ice cream is wonderful but it’s even more wonderful when you put a “cherry on top”.

While that may be very true of a dish of ice cream, I think some things are best enjoyed au naturel. I recently came across the following products for sale online that claim to improve and enhance oral sex. I don’t know how you feel but I think these are quite unnecessary and kinda silly but each to his (or her) own as they say.

The following product descriptions are taken word for word from the website selling these products:

Product description
When you give head do you ever wish you had your lips wrapped around something a little more appetizing? Not that there's anything wrong with the way your lover tastes but sometimes it’s a delicious idea to turn oral sex into a luscious treat. Top your lovers penis with Peter Lickers wild cherry flavored body topping for a dessert-like experience that will have you fantasizing about licking and sucking your partners cock until you're again tasting his candy stick.’ (Available in Tropical Fruit, Lemon Lime, Wild Cherry, Strawberry, and Big Banana.)

Product description
If you love to eat pussy for breakfast, lunch and dinner, now you can enjoy pussy as dessert with the Pussy Licker lube in delicious strawberry. This cream is the perfect pussy topping, making the vagina taste sweet and sugary. Licking pussy has never been so delicious and fun. Slather it on your favorite pussy and give it a taste - you might skip dinner and go straight to dessert! Yummy! (Available in Strawberry and Tropical Fruit.)

As far as I'm concerned, when it comes to giving head or cocks in general, I’ll have mine “in the raw”… Hold the Banana, Tropical Fruit, Lemon Lime, or Strawberry and save the cherries for the ice cream.

she's my cherry pie
cool drink of water such a sweet surprise
tastes so good make a grown man cry
sweet cherry pie oh yeah

“To each his own” is an idiom and a proverb. A proverb is a short popular saying that gives advice about how people should behave or that expresses a belief that is generally thought to be true. “To each his own” originates from Latin, Cuique suum often it means that some people prefer one thing, while other people prefer something else: "to each his own." In this context, the implied Latin verb would probably be placet cuique suum, "to each his own is pleasing." Proverbs, like idioms, often have a meaning that is greater than the meaning of the individual words put together, but in a different way than idioms. Examples of proverbs: “Don’t cry over spilt milk.”, “A stitch in time saves nine.”, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” The meaning of the words is greater than the words themselves in the phrase and usually are offered as advice or as a basic truth which may be applied to common situations.

“In the raw” is an idiom and a figure of speech, it is figurative language. It means in its natural state as well as being naked. The literal meaning of an idiom usually doesn’t make sense, and idioms can be almost impossible to understand unless you have learned or heard them before. Each language has its own idioms and they really cannot be translated to another language and retain their meaning.

Scroogle this for examples of idioms from other countries that make no sense at all when translated into English: 40 brilliant idioms that simply can’t be translated literally.

Examples of idioms: “rub someone the wrong way”, “by the skin of your teeth”, “on the other hand”, "cherry on top"… These idioms make no sense taken literally but we all know (if we speak English that is) what they mean.

How do you best enjoy oral sex?

Would you buy the or have you bought products to enhance or alter the natural flavor of your lover during fellatio or cunnilingus?

Add an idiom or proverb to your comment if you wish. How many different ones can we collect?

I think these products may be necessary if your partner's naughty bits are verging on whiffy to minging. I think if your guy or gal needs flavor or fragrance enhancements you may wish to offer up a bar of soap instead. Sorry that's just where my mind wandered.

WHAT DO YOU CALL IT?

Defining or labeling a relationship, particularly a sexual relationship outside of your marriage can be challenging or a futile endeavor, particularly if you hope to be in agreement with the other person in the relationship. Sometimes you are not on the same page at all. Sometimes you don’t even know that you were never on the same page until it’s all over and done with. You may want to continue but if the other person doesn’t there’s not much you can do about it.

I don’t know why it’s important for to me to KNOW what the thing is but I just seem to have to know! I don’t know if this is something women do or not; it certainly is something I do. I have posed this question to a married man I had been seeing: Just what is it that we're doing? Trying to get a married man to define the relationship you are in with him is a touchy subject to say the least.

The answer my question at the time was: “We’re friends, don’t you think we are friends, can’t we just be friends.” I thought to myself, of course we are friends, that goes without saying but the things we do… well friends do them, lovers do them, married couples do them, but sometimes it's not just sex or casual sex. Sexual friendships are sometimes much more than just fucking, not always, but the friendship can easily grow into much more and then… just what is it?

When I think of the words used to define or label these kinds of relationships, I notice that most of them have negative connotations. They are emotionally charged, not neutral and the emotions or feelings associated with those terms are mainly negative ones, at least in my opinion.

Words have a literal meaning -- the definition of the word itself or denotative meaning. However, many words -- especially nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs - also have an emotional side. Depending on the context or how a word has been used over time it may have a positive, negative or neutral connotation. Though not part of the dictionary definition, the emotions and associations connected to a word are known as its connotative meaning.

I hate the words we use to define these relationships as they seem tawdry, vulgar, indecent, salacious and downright dirty. Here are a few of them: relationship, love affair, romance, fling, dalliance, liaison, involvement, hanky-panky, tryst, entanglement, hookup.

Even worse than those are the chat speak terms such as:

NSA: ‘No Strings Attached’. A relationship without attachment. While everyone wants the comfort of affection and having a ‘special someone’, not many want to be tied down with one person, for better or worse.

MBA: Married but available is just a fancy term for cheating.

FWB: ‘Friends with benefits’ is when people are in a sexual relationship but there is no love or any feelings involved.

ONS: One Night Stands… not something I want but sometimes they just happen (yes, even to me) especially when he/she has far different expectations than you have.

I suppose on sites like this the aforementioned terms get to the meat of the matter pretty quickly. Here in this “meat/meet market” well it’s often all about making a connection quickly and getting down to business (and then onto the next best thing, sometimes). The pace here is greatly accelerated and it’s easy to get into a situation, hook up or whatever, pretty quickly and sometimes regrettably. The thing is… sometimes both people want something different. Sometimes you can’t even tell what you’ve gotten into until after it’s ended.

So… what DO YOU call it? What is the term or terms you prefer to use?

How do you feel about the terms used to define these relationships? Good, bad, indifferent?

There'll be no strings to bind your hands
Not if my love can't bind your heart

And there's no need to take a stand
For it was I who chose to start

I see no need to take me home
I'm old enough to face the dawn

Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
Just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby

Let's give them something to talk about
A little mystery to figure out
Let's give them something to talk about
How about love, love, love, love?

COME TO MY TABLE

This is my first blog post. I hope you enjoy it. There are five images, a soundtrack and a line from a film.

This post was inspired by something I read today in an email from a potential new friend.

HE: "I am looking for some laughs and some carnal lust. I anxiously await your response." 12/23/2018 10:00 am”

After thanking him for the email. I sent another:

ME: Carnal lust, huh? 12/24/2018 11:28 pm

Here is the exchange which followed. I hope he doesn't mind that I've shared this with you, but I won't reveal his identity, so I can't imagine he would mind in the least.

HE: "I like the word lust...it implies a need or hunger straining to be satisfied 12/25/2018 9:00 am"

ME: "consuming each other... gustatory delights... with all the mmms and ahhsss 12/25/2018 11:47 am"

HE: "I like the way you think...especially the ahhhhsss 12/25/2018 12:56 pm"

The Beatles, Strawberry Fields Forever

ME: "Well lust is sexual appetite isn't it?

And then there are the cravings... I only know one way to satisfy them, everything else is really a poor substitute, leaving something still to be desired.

"Really love your peaches want to shake your tree"
Steve Miller Band, The Joker

I think sex and good food have a lot in common. Both are necessary to live. We even use the same terms to describe them and the accompanying sounds, the mmms and ahhhsss while enjoying a good meal are the very same ones uttered while indulging in and enjoying certain sexual pursuits. Bland food (like sex that has lost something and has become routine, without surprise or passion) a meal that has been under seasoned is almost not worth eating, it will sustain you... but when it's good, really good, you can't get enough; it's the difference between living and merely existing.

Sex should be a like banquet or a smorgasbord... when you hear, 'come to my table' you know it will be quite unforgettable." 12/25/2018 1:46 pm"

BREAKFAST IN BED, mmm...

"Life is a banquet, and most poor sons-of-bitches are starving to death!" Mame (1974)

I haven’t had a response yet. But I’m wondering…

  • What do YOU think? Are food and sex comparable? If so, tell me how you think they are or aren't.

  • And if I bid you, “come to my table”, would you?

  • Please comment.

Oh and what do you think I should I call my blog?
